More, about Out of the Body phenomenon.

Spanish: Izquierda. Fenómeno Out of body (OBE). Derecha. Autoscopia (AS), externa.
Although we have treated this subject previously, additional observations and a bigger interpretative precision of the well-known OBE's phenomenon (out of body) and Autoscopy (AS), extracted of recent pre-surgical neurological explorations, be worth to speak again. The neurologist : Olaf Blanke, of the Department of Neurology of the University Hospital of Geneve and collaborators of Neuroscience Cognitive of the Ecole Polytechnique of Lausanne, Switzerland, relates their experiences (Nature), that they had with 2 young women, affected of convulsive syndromes. In the surgical room, having the brain surface exposed -before the neurosurgeons- after having separated part of the cranium, the Dr. O. Blanke and assistants stimulated brain surface pinpoints areas looking for potential epileptógen focuses (to be extirpated) and normal surrounding areas that should not be damaged (language area, etc). Every time that they stimulated electrically the left angular gyrus electrically, located in the temporo/parieto/union, they noticed that the woman turned the face toward the right side, asking: what do you make here?. Asked, the woman (that was conscious, during the exploration), said that a silent, blurred (almost a shade) man was to her right side, being about interfering with that she does. If she sat down or , or shrank, the shade made the same movements. Situation that disappeared, when the electric stimulation was interrupted. Stimulating the right angular gyrus, of the other woman, she referred that she floated until almost to play the roof, seeing her body from above, situation that disappeared when the electric stimulation was interrupted.

Dr. Olaf Blanke, has given an explanation of the facts that we estimate quite coherent, by the light of what is known. According to him and other neuroscientists, since we are hardly born our brain begins to thread day by day, a somatic integrative and totalizing representation of our body - in our brain - based on stimuli coming from the environment, captured by our different senses. We conform this way our location sense and our self. The location sense is fundamental to unwrap us and to defend with success in the world that surrounds us. For the same reasons is formed the self (that originated the conscience) and the that. The process of integration of all external sensations are carried out in the brain union parietotemporal (angular gyrus). The stimulation of these areas interrupts the perceptive somatic integrative processes, causing hallucinations or OBE, seen by the laymen like paraanormal phenomena. According to Olaf Blanke it is not necessary the electric stimulation to unchain OBE's phenomenon. The hallucinatory perceptions (of persecution) of certain -schizophrenics - having as base these observations - are proof of it. Also OBE, gestated by certain trained Peruvian and oriental chamanes, brilliantly described in the "Third eye", of Lobsang Rampa.
