Superbabys?

In the summer of the 2006, the Swedish authorities approved the employment of stem cells coming from human embryos (gestated ex-profess), to save relative’s lives (siblings affected by genetic irreversible illnesses). It is the case of Fredrik and Helena Richardson, with 2 male children, affected by a metabolic illness, characterized by the impossibility of metabolizing fatty, the same ones that accumulating in the brain invariably leads to the death. Matias (11 years), the older son is at the moment blind, deaf and mute (newspaper: "Svenska Dagbladet)." Although the younger : Félix (4 years), even shines healthy inside little he will begin to present the signs of the illness. To the help of new Swedish law, several ova of Mrs. Richardson will be fertilized artificially. After the selection of 1 healthy embryo (by means of genetic appropriate tests), this will be stimulated to culminate the gestation. After it Félix will be subjected to ablative chemotherapy of his bone marrow for finally transplanting him stem cells coming from his newly born brother's umbilical cord, curing Félix completely.

Asked being, the Richardson valued the new conceived one (designed to be healthy), like a store of body parts. Dra. Britt-Marie Frost, Chief of an university hospital of Upssala wonders: are the humans able to engender embryos to save other lives?, don't exist compatible (for Félix) bone marrow tissue, in other places of the world?. Will stem cells cure to Félix? Are not we killing a person to save another?. We, like George Bush and others, oppose to these procedures to consider that fertilized eggs and embryos are human beings with all their rights. Obviously, other options exist. Nevertheless in Sweden the number of similar procedures are increasing. In England, using the same procedure (2003), a girl affects of congenital aplastic anemia (Blackfan-Diamond Anemia), except for of dying when receiving stem cells coming from her ex profess conceived new brother's umbilical cord. In Scotland a couple tried legally (without success), to use body stem cells to revive their small daughter died in an accident of traffic. Won't it take this tendency to gestate exclusively beautiful, intelligent, sportsmen children? The technology to already make this is here. It is not a form of discriminatory eugenics? (alone some will be able to carry out it). Is it ethical to conceive an embryo with the single purpose to provide body parts to others?. What about the baby designer's feelings if the transplant fail?

(solo algunos podrán llevarla a cabo.

Nature Genetics:Question of the year.

The equivalent sequence of the totality of the human genome to $1.000 has been announced as a goal by the genetic community. With occasion of his 15th anniversary, Nature Genetics is asking to prominent geneticists which they would do if this capacity already were available. The questions are supported by Applied Biosystems and Nature Genetics, updating it monthly. The method is formidable because the ideas that next are exposed will sure obtain state or private funds with complete certainty:

Bruce Lahn (University of Chicago): To construct an ontogenétic tree of the human body. All cells of human body descend from a single one (fertilized egg). We need an ontogenetic tree that describes the existing relations between all the alive cells of an organism. The mutations in sequences of DNA (that happen during cellular divisions), could be used as hallmarks to construct an ontogenetic tree, connecting all the alive cells of an organism. Similar approaches will be employee to examine the cellular origin of many diseases in special, the cancer. Leena Peltonen-Palotie (University of Helsinki): How the genes are related to vital events (influencing in the risk of contracting diseases). I would sequence the DNA of the best availables population human cohorts, with deep longitudinal data (up to 30-50 years, back). I will study cohorts of 10 000 individuals for sequentiation and analyses, with clinical pursuits in several occasions during the life. Parallelly I will study the sequentiation of 100.000 monozygotic twins (1, of the pair), including those discordant ones for certain diseases like schizophrenia, autism, etc. With it we would understand better: (i) many vital events including those of the early childhood that influence (modify), our genome in several diseases throughout the life and (II) I will study linked factors (methylation and epigenetic), that affect our biological structure including diseases. Paul Nurse (Rockefeller University): Tree of the human life and microbiome. I have 2 projects: 1) To use sequentiation of DNA with taxonomic and evolutionary purposes. Also, to sequence selected sets of genes of so many species as it is possible, with bar codes for marine species, identifying and classifying species, constructing better taxonomies. I will study the phylogenetic transitions in the tree of the life and fast speciations : Cichlid fish, in African lakes. 2) I will sequence at random DNA of microbes that live inside and outside the human being (gut, skin, nose, anus). Studies at world-wide level, will reveal the propensity of an individual to develop specific diseases. Manel Esteller (Spanish N. Cancer C.): The DNA metiloma in health and disease The Epigenétic, with the methylation of DNA, as its stable mark but, has an important roll. Complete analyses of the status of the methylation of the DNA of each CpG dinucleotide (DNA methylome), will help us to understand the cellular physiology and the disease. We will study antagonist cases : embryonic and adult stem cells, cancerous and healthy cells; neuronal and muscular cells; new born versus centenaries; brains affected by Alzheimer and other healthy ones; 2 similar tumors with different clinical courses. Julian Parkhill (Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute): Huge bacterial diversity. I will study bacterial genomes to $1, because sequentiations of $1.000, are in fact resequentiations, based in technological extrapolations. The sequentiation of the immense bacterial, will help us to understand better its effects on the organic and inorganic planet environmental cycles. to investigate associations : phenotype-genotype of bacterias, to make a fine epidemiology of the infectious bacteriological agents, medical but precise diagnoses (phenotypes of organisms: virulence, resistance to drugs, etc.). Yoshihide Hayashizaki (RIKEN Yokohama Institute) Towards a personalized medicine. Genomic sequences to $1000 associated to shotgun technologies, combined with CAGE (CAP analysis of genetic expression), would make possible to detect genetic frequencies with great sensitivity (1 molecule that expressing its RNA, to the interior of 100 cells on average). With technologies of $1.000, the precision will be improve, being possible to obtain data for each promoter, not obtained with methods based single on hybridization. It will be essential to analyze genetic networks: gene-phenotype. High numbers of sequences of different individuals will allow the definition of normal sequence, at the moment indefinite. Will be also useful to make possible the 4 Ps : Prediction, Prevention, Personalization and Pparticipation, leading to therapies and personalized medicines. Jeantine Lunshof (Vrije Medical University Center): Right distribution of benefits. Being philosopher, I see that the community cannot run in front of science. Many ethical problems would be diminished with the general availability of individual genomes. The genomic ethics will be renewed. Will be born new questions such as ¿how to assure fairness in health next to an increasing individualizatión with limited resources?. Some products will be very expensive with few beneficiaries. The humanity must be united to science in cooperative efforts to optimize the benefits. Sarah Tishkoff (University of Maryland): Complete rank of genetic diversity. I will sequence at random, genomes of individuals coming from populations with diverse geographic and cultural ancestors (particularly of Africa), obtaining patterns of genetic diversity without bias. This way, we will know more of human evolutionary history, more about the Man of Neardhental and modern genomes. I will compare the data with genomes of populations of chimpanzees to distinguish adaptative variants in each specie. We would identify regulatory mutations cis- and trans that affect the variability of common characteristics and we would discern if they are restricted to particular geographic regions. Stephen Scherer (for Hospital Sick Children/University of Toronto): Perfect Genomic. My dream is to study in detail each chromosome, from the beginning to the end. I will sequence the genomes of discordant monozigotics twins; I will sequence the genomes of Albert Einstein and Ted Williams; in search of minimum codes for brilliant minds. I understand by Perfect Genomic the eliminations of limitants for the creativity. John Ioannidis (University of Ioannina and Tufts University): "Exposurome". I believe that in certain cities (Scandinavian), with rigorous registries of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, renal insufficiency, mental diseases, drug use, the use of these new genetic arms will be very useful. It is necessary to study older adults but also to children and adolescents because many diseases begin very early. Just we are scratching the associations between genetic variation and diseases. It will pass many years before we see paying results. It is necessary to create 'exposuromes" (interrelations between: diseases-genetic variants-environmental-lifestyles). While genetic measurements every time are but precise, the measurements of non-genetic events remain in the age of stone. Elaine A. Ostrander (National Human Genome Research Institute): Including/understanding the genetics of conduct of the dog What genetic mechanisms control the conducts of several domestic dogs? Why the personality of a pit bull is different from a terrier? I will also study the genetics of the dogs with extreme conducts : why dogs are the best and loyal friend of the man and by thousands of years?. Also I would study dogs with anomalous conducts :wrath, obsessive compulsive disorders, etc. Christine Petit (Pasteur Institute): The new challenge of infectious diseases. These studies will permit (i) to evaluate the extension of selective pressure of pathogens on human genome (II) to identify genomic regions that played a great roll in the resistance of the host (III) to study the emergency of lifestyles bound to agriculture which influenced the coevolution: pathogenic germ-host y (IV) I will unit these data with the obtained from new therapeutic approaches. David Gurwitz (Tel University Aviv): Pharmacogenetic. I will study the heredables determinants of human body answer to drugs (in terms of security and effectiveness). Pharmacogenetics test and diagnoses will be made at the bedside of patients. Francis S. Collins (National Human Genome Research Institute): Where to begin?. Apart from answering this question, it also matters what we must not do. I like to sequence 100.000 human samples. Many of them will belong to individuals affected by 30 complexes of common diseases: asthma, arthritis, diabetes, several types of cancer, stroke, etc. We would also study to independent centenaries.

Stephen Scherer (Hospital for Sick Children/University of Toronto): Genómica Perfecta. John Ioannidis (University of Ioannina and Tufts University): "Exposurome". Estudiaríamos tambien a centenarios independientes.

Does God exist?

In Europe and of special way in Germany have appeared in the last years a pleiad of skeptical scientists and atheistic philosophers (Michel Onfray and others), whose greater desire is to eradicate the religious faith from the Earth face “God is the guilty” “the religion is the opium of the towns”, are some of the emblems of the new atheists. Hee an interesting interview appeared recently in Der Spiegel:

Der Spiegel: Monsignore Walter Brandmueller (Head of historians of the Vatican) Needs God to be demonstrated to the nonbelieving ones?
BrandMueller: First of all it is necessary to define what you understand as “proof” and what it means “God”. There are rigorous mathematical procedures (quod erat demostrandum), that explains God. And, where there are not present physical tests, there are the well-known proofs of God, elaborated by Santo Tomas de Aquino, not understood absolutely because they run throughout other laws (nonmathematical, nonexperience). Since the First Vatican Council of the Catholic Church (1869-70), in which was settled down that God could be recognized with the aid of human reason, we have advanced more. Since then there is an opening of the thought (with the faith in the middle of them), making more and more comprehensible the existence of God.
Der Spiegel. Who carry with the existence or not of God?
BrandMueller: Possibly the atheists. Wishing to catch the whole reality, they deny the capacity to explain the probable thing (because after all they live in a human world). Living in this world you arrive to explanations of certain events like the Big Bang, the Evolution, the self-cellular and self-body organization (that do not exist), forming empty worlds rather. In particular -in this point- You must explain how can the human reason, the macro world and the microcosm be intimately connected to each other like a key and its lock.
Der Spiegel: If the faith refuses by itself to the use of the reason, why does not have the church to retire by itself of the controversy of the world?
BrandMueller: At this point emerges the faith, which helps us to understand the dogmas. By the way there is no rational test, to demonstrate now the existence of God in 3 people or the presence of Christ in the Sacred Communión, as we cannot either rationally explain the existence of the evil. Single the revelation of God helps us to understand what I cannot demonstrate. I take the faith like a intellectual act, because God finds the way to communicate actually in demonstrable form with the humans.
Der Spiegel: How can you be sure that Jesus lived like son of God?

BrandMueller: The religious historians like the others know much and little of their histories. It is necessary to continue investigating. But there are again and again -in several times- the witnesses, in front of eyes and ears of many humans, chatting with Jesus de Nazareth……every time with new and huge arguments….they are not folk stories…..
Der Spiegel: “How good is God without the miracles? ”
BrandMueller: Jesus being God is also human. Beyond that, there but of 50 treatments of incurables patients made in Lourdes, not explained scientifically, not even by a commission of independent doctors. Who establishes that the miracles are possible or impossible?...With which rights’.
Der Spiegel: Where is the limits between science and faith?
BrandMueller: Throughout the edges of the efficiency of the human reason. On the other side, there are too great realities to be describe….God is but great that our reason.

Existe Dios?

Miraculous water / Strong older adults/ A german : the first human cosmonaut?.

MIRACULOUS WATER

All know that in rural areas, it is common to add certain quantities of Chlorine to the extracted water of rivers and wells to make it drinkable. Now the company Oculus Innovative Sciences Water, after enriching simple water with Chlorine and oxygen derivatives (super-oxidised) and after to make interacting them with hydrogen and reactive hidrogenions existent in the water, has been able to develop a powerful disinfectant (almost a detergent), which effect is so promising that in hardly 12 days achieved to heal open wounds (for but of 18 months) of 1000 diabetics. According to the article appeared in the New Scientist, this miraculous water (®Mycrocyn, ®Dermacyn), kills virus, fungi, bacterias, not affecting the human surrounding tissues. For Cheryl M. Bongiovanni, the recaptured oxygen forming oxychlorine ions -rapidly piercing the walls of free-living microbes and killing them- the vital element of this new medicine.

AGUA MILAGROSA

TRAINING CAN REVERT MUSCULAR AGING

According to a study appeared in PLOS, older adults could continue exhibiting healthy and strong physical appearances. Effect already achieved by the way by professionals of the catch and some older physical-bodybuilders. According to Simón Melov of Buck Institute for Age Research in Beginner, California, resistance muscle training -in older adults- achieves strong and juvenile muscles. Analysis of older adults muscle’s biopsies, obtained before the realization of resistance physical exercises, showed a deep deterioration in mitocondrial functions and in hundred of related genes and also a profound muscle athropy (sarcopenia). After resistance muscle exercises carried out 2 times per week during 6 months: genetic transcriptional profile and muscles adopted juvenile patterns. Now researchers seeks to carry out but studies to know if aerobic exercises (to walk or cycling), can achieve similar effects and if the exercise can revert the molecular aging in other types of body tissues.

FIRST EARTH COSMONAUT: A GERMAN and not YURI GAGARIN.

It doesn't stop to surprise us up to now, the might achieved by the systematic military Nazi during II World War (WW II), in full shortage of materials, with short periods of production and under the continuous fire of their enemies. Anything less than : 1163 superadvanced technologically submarines, jet-propelled destroyer (self guided missiles) of 1,000 km/h, technically superior to any airplane of the time and 2,000 combat fight airplanes built in 1945, in few months. To what is necessary to add the exceptional advances in rockets. In this respect it is of interest declarations of the engineer Raúl Streicher (85 years) who said to Der Spiegel (2000), that he was the first human in orbiting the space. Streicher said that before WW II, Germany had built a secret network of investigation institutes to develop and improve weapons. Already in 1938, a rocket (Panzerknakke), built in a institute near to Wewelsburg, launched missiles while flying, including the Fau-3. Later they would begin to develop the intercontinental cruise missile :A9/A10, with which Hitler planned to destroy New York, in 1945. At the end of 1943, after many failures they already had 40 missiles. The first intercontinental experimental improved rocket with Martin von Dulen on board (1945) exploded to little of taking off. 6 days later, another rocket with Raúl Streicher on board, orbit successfully the Earth landing hours later in Japanese sea waters. Hence, for Streicher : February/26/1945, is the date of the first human space exploration. After the war Streicher was hidden in eastern Europe and later in the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

PRIMER COSMONAUTA : UN ALEMAN y no YURI GAGARIN.

Male mammal's parthenogenesis?

We have previously commented the implications of parthenogenesis: a) that female (XX chromosome pattern), will give birth to other females (XX), without sexual contact with males b) not inserting (apparently), in this plan an up to date revival of the supposed parthenogenesis of the Virgin Mary because in the meantime Jesus was a man (XY).¿How does a female with a XX pattern, can generate a XY pattern (male)?. Knowing the mechanism of parthenogenesis (2 cells daughters, descendants of a mother cell, that then unite mixing its genetic material), is possible to delineate a theoretical framework for the birth of males by parthenogenesis. That is to say fits the possibility (as opposed to clonation where there is not mixtures of genetic material), to modify artificially one chromosome X (creating optimun environment or changing artificially one X chromosome :XX to XY, of one of daughters cells), with which a male will be born by artificial induced parthenogenesis. This possibility remains open as soon as a team of researchers verified the single pressence of female DNA in a hammerhead, cartilaginous, female shark (Class Chondrichthyes, Sphyrnass: tiburo), born in 2001, by natural parthenogenesis (facultative or automictic). According to the authors (Biology Letters), female sharks resort to parthenogenesis when they find difficult to find male. What eventually is a problem, because parthenogenesis (like clonation), condemn them to extinction because carrying this trait is very dificult to be adapted to changing environments or to the emergency of new illnesses.

Illegal human experiments

It is an ugly news, but it is uglier when the suspicion of an anethic an irrational human experiment (in children) begins to become into a devil reality. In 1996, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the giant American pharmaceutical Pfizer decided to give voluntary help to Kano (Nigeria), where a combined lethal epidemic bud of Measles, Cholera and Meningitis killed to more than 3000 people. In these circumstances, researchers of Pfizer prescribed Trovan/Floxacin (trovafloxacin mesylate: fluoroquinolone, that stops the bacterial multiplication impeding the reproduction and repair of their DNAs. The drug is used to treat : sinusitis, bronchitis, gonorrhea, pneumonia and is not very employee against bacterial meningitis. Side effects: hypersensitivity, agranulocitosis, tonic-clónics seizures, pseudomembranous colitis, pancreatitis, renal and hepatic inadequacy, leucopenia, trombocitopenia, hemolytic anemia), to Nigerian children affected of bacterial meningitis. Completed the treatments, 11 children died and 189 suffered by symptoms related to meningitis : deafness, blindness, disorientation and inability to walk, as it consists in the files of the transnational one. Now (2007), the Muslim Nigerian state has sued before the Supreme Court of Kano (Nigeria), to Pfizer to use secretely to 200 children like guinea pigs to whom they administered Trovan Floxacin, under the guise of a humanitarian help. The Nigerian authorities demand 2,75 billion dollars to Pfizer, to repair damages, to establish continuous medical treatments and to prohibit human illegal experimentation that could carry out Pfizer in any other place of the world. Washington Post journalists, suspicion that similar cases are happening in Africa, Asia, eastern Europe, and Latin America. Will the Nigerian government win?.

Although by the light of the following evidences, Nigeria should win, it is obvious that the economic enormous might of Pfizer, will at the end be decisive.1) Pfizer has recognized that the medication was never proven in children because bacterial meningitis is strange, in USA.2) Pfizer usually prepares its protocols in 1 year.In this case they made it in 6 weeks.3) Most American children with meningitis receive intravenous medicines of fast action. Nigerian children received oral forms of Trovan Floxacin.4) Alternative drugs existed like Cloramfenicol, internationally recommended to combat bacterial meningitis. 5) There were not contracts of volunteer informed consent.6) The company adduces that this experiment was justified because the given horrendous conditions, the numbers of achieved survivers and frequency of death (6%). The reality, is that Pfizer never received necessary approval for conducer the work. When it faced an audit of their registrations in 1997, taken up for FDA, they said that their protocol had been approved by the Committee of Ethics of the Hospital of Kano/Nigeria. The certain thing is that the Hospital lacked a Committee of Ethics. 7) they didn't carry out lumbar punction to diagnoses and control the bacterial meningitis cases.8) It was not explained to child’s parents that the proposed treatment was experimental, and that they were free of accepting or not the same one, or to choose alternative and sure treatments, offered free at the same time. According to Nuremberg Code (1947) and Helsinki Declaration, the risks, purposes and methods of the study should be explained before to parents or close relatives. 9) In 1999, american authorities advised to retire Trova Floxacin in adults because it damaged their livers and some patients died. 10) At the end Pfizer use Nigerian children affected of bacterial meningitis to drive experiments in the belief that Trovafloxacin, was a breaktrough antibiotic. Analysts of Wall Street had predicted that the drug could generate 1 billion dollars in the first year if Trovan, demonstrated its effectiveness.

Experimentos humanos ilegales

Reacciones adversas: hipersensibilidad, agranulocitosis, convulsiones tónico-clónicas, colitis seudomembranosa, pancreatitis, insuficiencia renal y hepática, leucopenia, trombocitopenia, anemia hemolítica), a niños nigerianos afectos de meningitis.

Australian saltwater.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGyb_-HIp8A

In this satellital view (left), it is appraised that most part of Australia (25 million inhabitants), are desert or semi desert (in brown). The few green areas, are in the Southeast, the Northeast and upon the Gulf of Carpentry. The vegetation includes only a narrows strip (10 - 150 km), from the coast. Australia depends on the technology for its farming production. Being a desert country it suffers by the high salinity surplus with when in ancient times the sea covered most of its territory. All australian water wells are salty, unsuitable. For that reason, the Australians fear population increases. At the moment Australia resorts massively to desalination of the water of sea, a process of separation of salt of the water of the sea (or brackish waters). The used technology is inverse osmosis (to see top, right): applying mechanical pressure it is made pass the water through an artificial membrane, separating the salt and obtaining pure water. Now, Alan Carpenter Premier of Australia tries to construct a second desalination plant (cost: 1 billion dollars), in Binningup 155 to the south of Perth, using geothermal energy, the same that completed in 4 years, would provide 45 gigaliters of water each year, amount similar to the generated by the present plant of desalination (opened this year), in Cockburn Sound, Kwinana, 41 km to the south of Perth. With it, the Australian government hope to add to 13% of recycled water provided to the public, a 30% total desalinated water.

Greenpeace, opponent of this idea adduces that the environmental, negative impact of desalination plants in coastal zones will damage the landscape. To which there is to add the immense amounts of electrical energy to be consumed to overcome the osmótic pressure (70kg/cm2), to later pump the water from its origin and towards to deposits of storage. Finally, remains the salmuera very concentrated in salts, with differences of pH and temperature respect to original water and presence of chemical agents (heavy metals, biocide, anti-incrustants and others), that reverted to the sea, will kill fishes. In the worse one of cases, Greenpeace thinks that energy necessary for this process must be of renewable origin and that desalination must be the last one of the options to choose. Paul Omodei, parliamentary leader of the opposition, thinks that aqueducts (although dependent of climate), recycled water and pipeline water coming from the north, are cheap and ecological options but.

Aguas saladas australianas

Alternate virtual worlds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9PRWIUmvb4

Synesthesia is a sui generis neurological condition, that impregnates the letters of the alphabet with sorts and types of personality. Each letter represents a different human personality: A: is a very sensible mother, I: a small individual, H and G: demanding people, M and N: 2 old ladies who spend their time, chatting, T: a protective male. The days of the week and the months of the year also evoke personalities. The one affected of synesthesia, see letters and numbers colored and associate shapes to flavors. In certain type of synesthesia (grapheme → color), letters and numbers are perceived inherently colored. Some people have preferences by certain colors associated to each letter: A = red, O = white or black, S= yellow (Day, 2005). In the space sequence, the months of the year and/or days of the week obtain precise space locations (1980 can be far away than 1990), or to have a three-dimensional vision of 1 year, in form of a map that turns in the sense of the needles of a clock or, to the inverse one. The understanding of the language of the synesthésics is strange, not adapting to the well-known, in as much as it is desusual to see music or colored flav0rs. Its prevalence, has been estimated in 1 x each 23 people (Simner et al. 2006). Although not yet one know if it is hereditary, it is common to associate synesthesia to psyquedélic drugs ingestion, stroke or as a result of blindness or deafness.

Using a variation of the MRI (diffusion tensile imaging), Romke Rouw and collaborator (University of Ámsterdam), have demonstrated hyperconnectivity -2 sensorial body connections between brain areas (gyrus fusiform, in charge of perceptions and an area near it in charge of categorizacion of visual stimuli). Rown distinguishes subsets, existing people who see colors in their inner world, counting on few connections in comparison to synesthesics that project their colors towards the outer world. Fortunately synesthesia, absolutely non cause damage and Julia Simner, suggests that all of us can have something of it. Some researchers have suggested that in synesthesia exists an insufficiency of the process of normal adjustment to outer and inner sensations or perhaps a reduction in the inhibition of sensorial control mechanisms (Grossenbacher & Lovelace 2001), in which case the signals coming from multiple multisensorial stages could have influence in early stages of processing, activating cortical visual areas in synesthesics but that in non sysnesthesics. For us (Alucinogenos, UPCH, Peru, 1997), the present normal representation of the internal and external world (conscience/biological multimedia, for us), has been conditionated by the evolution. In this instance, the maintaining of the status quo is carried out connecting multiple cerebral areas with the aid of well-known chemical neurotransmissors. When the humans ingest substances similar to these neurotransmissors (harmina, LSD, mescaline), habitual humans, are discovered total or partial alternative steps to the normal representation of the external and internal world, with perceptions obvious gone off of the normal general scheme. As to maintain the normal scheme is an arduous task, synesthesias are frequent, although fleeting, self-reparables and at the same time correctable technically. The study of this phenomenon could help to understand the animal mind animal and to create artistic alternating or futuristic worlds.

Mundos alternos virtuales

Magaly/Gisela : Freedom to Speech.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZzuDX7OmUc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi0FNqCVZ1E

One month ago a reporter of the Peruvian sensationalist program Magaly TeVe (driven by the aggressive journalist of the same name -for whom the rating is the reason of being of her program-), took very near pictures of Gisela Valcarcel, ex-dancer and self made peruvian woman, very well-known for their pop TV programs, multiple romances and marriages. Gisela that jogged in a public marathon, when feeling -according to her- invaded her privacy, verbally whipped to the journalist and Magaly: "I am the one that gives you of eating this Wednesday” (El Comercio: 13/05/07). Then she tried to snatch him his photographic camera and even she made some intents of physical aggression against the journalist, registered in the cameras of TV. In the hours and following days Gisela emerged suddenly transformed into a leader of good customs and morality of the country, leading subliminally to certain media forces (they sought to be carried out a public march against Magaliy Medina), in order to request the closing of her program to consider it : amoral, anethic, ordinary and privacy invader. If you don't know it, the program Magaly TeVe, leads for many years the syntony rating being located very above any program in the Peruvian TV. Some of their shippings have been seen in many Latin America countries and lately the journalist appears personally in Miami and Chile. Although it seems incredible, the confrontation Gisela/Magaly occupies the front pages of most Peruvian media included the important newspapers El Comercio and La Republica for at least 7 days. Juan Paredes Castro treated the topic like a case of fight for the rating, public exposure and personal profit, similar to the one exercised by many Peruvian politicians and Pedro Ortiz Bisso, like a harassment without pause, to be self-regulated by the own journalism.

With the only exception of Jaime Baily’s opportune reflections (to see youtube), most of commentators (as always), don't approach the main topic of this pop confrontation: the dangers of liquidating the freedom of speech, rule what should be or not be published (as improperly Bisso suggests). I Remember a similar case that happened some years ago in which group of traveling comedians were taken to the TV, reaching very top syntony levels. As long as scenes and words were gone up of tone, certain institutions struggled to veto the program, achieving it after some months. Why Magaly TeVe and the traveling comedians monopolize the rating?. Simple: because they are different, transgressors, original, innovative, creative. Here like in other places of the world the different is taboo, it is not accepted with easiness because it threatens the existent thing, the obsolete thing or that urged of renovation. Some of our readers already know our position in front of similar cases: tolerance, toward the different thing. Neither bad nor good programs exist. This qualification depends on the space/time/historical momentum of each society. Our proposal in front of different programs that place to certain sectors of the society in interdict is not by the way its elimination or veto (favoring the mediocrity and castration of the creative talent). If ugly programs exist like of the traveling comedians or Magaly TeVe, what the moralist should make the moralists is to create alternative, intelligent, moral, ethical programs and to compete with the different ones until overcoming them, but in no way to eliminate or to veto them. The competition took charge of pruning the antiquated or perverse edges of the programs until achieving an appropriate and final consensus. The worst thing that can happen to a young democratic society like ours is to prohibit.

Magaly/Gisela : Prohibido prohibir.

Physical inmortality

We have exposed in previous articles our hypothesis of human cell immortality (lost to consequence of evolution). Now revising an article of A.V. Makrushin specialist in aging of I.D. Papanin Institute of Biology/Inland Waters (Russian Academy of Sciences), published in Progress of Gerontology (2006, issue 19), we find conceptual coincidences between this and ours. According to Makrushin, the first pluricellular animals possessed physical immortality, lost in the course of the evolution. These mostly possessed a modular structure, with identical offspring concentrated in colonies (sponges), born by gemmation. When the environment began to change the single defensive resource of sponges (changes in their forms), didn't go enough to escape to environmental pressure. In front of the change some sponges continued alive as long as other, involutioned. Involutión signature was the birth of some sponges using substances (liberated by the involutioned), in its building.

Nevertheless, the involutión (ageing), of some sponges reproduced by gemmation doesn't influence in the evolution because the genotype of the involutioned (aged), sponges was the same one of that its offsprings. When continuing evolving, the metazoos replaced their gemmation for sexual reproduction. With each one of their new offsprings (except monozigotics twins), they began to possess an unique genotype, transforming the lost of an individual into an irreplaceable genetic event, when changing the genetic pool of the whole species. From then on the involutión (ageing), began to influence in the evolution of the species. This universal and old mechanism of ageing, possibly originates several times in the course of the evolution of diverse multicellular animal modular groups. This way, the mechanism of primary ageing of multicellular organisms was tissue’s atrophy, transmitted to the humans later in form of ageing/death, strongly imprinted in the program of human development. The sexual reproduction (vast genetic mixtures), brought ageing and death. If humans get perfect clones, we say each every 30 years in their lifetime, it would not be that : immortality induced by clonation (gemmation)?. The memory caught and stored from the original brain, could be transmitted to clone’s brains by means of laser beamses. Not to age is not to change, to be without-tempo (maintaining identical genetic pools). The other option is stop the time by means of hormonal manipulations -before the puberty- being like children by always (neoteny).

Inmortalidad fisica.

The Road to supervaccines generation

When virus or bacteria settles down in human organisms causing disease, certain cells (antigen presenters cells: APC), capture them, identify their antigenic parts (leading of immune protective answers), process them in small peptides and soon they lean them to its surface for its later recognition by lymphocytes T (CD8, CD4, CTL, Helper), ordered to eliminate them directly or secreting cytoquines recruiting of but T cells. After it, T cells, are divided originating effector cells and memory cells of long life in charge of fast protective immune responses against germs previously identified. Thus, the key element in vaccine generation depends on a correct identification of bacterial or virals antigens. Many of present vaccines have been made available to the public after 6 to 10 years of arduous works of recognition/processing, assay/error and many years of tests in animals. Many of them induce single humoral answers happen in inefficient, when not recognizing intracellular germs. Of another side, the vaccines confront some problems that disable the total eradication of a certain disease: antigenic variation, existence of infected reservoirs (animal, vegetable, environment),high infectivity of germs, etc.

A company of recent start-up (Genocea Biosciences, Ltd), using microbiological, genomic and immunological methods has announced to be in capacity to recognize thousands of antigens in vitro, in fast, cheap and effective way. Genocea assures to identify the probable antigens but of any disease in hardly 2 weeks and has announced that in 2008 will have licenses for some of its vaccines. The protein antigenic blocks obtained by Genocea will be use to built-in multivalent vaccines with high probability of cellular protection. The Dr. Darren Higgins who has perfected this technology throughout 10 years, assures that these vaccines are a revolution. Although it is pure technology it is according to us a candidate to breaktrough of the year, because it marks a before and after in vaccine generation. Although we aspired to the generation of a mutant vaccine (at the same time that a mutation of a virus), we think that these vaccines are the first step to reach this aim. Peru could contact the bosses of Genocea to identify antigens of Lehismaniasis, disease of Chagas, TBC, Malaria, Bartonella, etc.
