GREAT IDEAS

According to Zeit Wissen, certain ideas will change our lives. Here, some of them: I) Glaxo SmithKline tries to generate a vaccine against addiction to nicotine: NicVAX, stimulant of antibodies against the nicotine. If nicotine reaches the blood the antibodies will intercept it, turning it ineffective. II) In reparative biology it is expected that stem cells will repair damaged human hearts very soon. A derived technique (tissue bioengineering), has allowed the german surgeon Axel Haverich to sow heart valves of cadavers with stem cells. Acting heart valves as scaffold structures, allowed the obtaining of normal heart valves even growing. Martin Ulrich (Leibniz Research Laboratories for Biotechnology Artificial and Organs: LEBAO), refers that 30 patients operated with this method, didn't present side effects. Of another side infusions with induced pluripotent cells (iPS cells), are allowing that paralyzed rats walk again.

III) Energy of the future: This year in Cadarache will begin to work the first reactor of nuclear fusion: ITER, using plasm heated at hundred of millions of grades containing ionized atoms of isotopes of Deuterium and Tritium forming Helium, replying solar processes without producing greenhouse gases or uncontrollable fissions. IV) For their side Harry Gray using photons of solar light tries to separate the Hydrogen of the Oxygen from marine waters. Ionized Hydrogen will be later used as permanent source of energy, imitating the form like plants obtain energy from solar light (Project : Powering the Planet). The problem to solve in this case is the obtaining of materials but cheap (ultratiny silicon wires), of smaller consumption energy and great efficiency. V) In the Technical University of Eindhoven, is tried to obtain nutritious meat in petri disks.

IDEAS REVOLUCIONARIAS

Segun Zeit Wissen, ciertas ideas cambiaran nuestras vidas.
