WATSON: LESS CANCER ETHIC’S REGULATIONS

James Dewey Watson (Physiology and Medicine Nobel Prize/1962), sustains during the Inaugural Cancer Lecture/Cork University Research Centre (CCRC): I) Many cancer’s researchers do not carry out a research appropriately for fear to make a mistake. It does not have importance to make a mistake, what import is to try it, although we be right once in a while. II) Being very near to defeat cancer, cancer’s researchers must remember that their principal mission is to save lives, more than simply to research about cancer. III) Present-day cancer research is over-regulated, being blocked many drug trials. A cure that can be identified in 5 years if researchers take more risks, will be delayed 20-30 years. Although many ethic’s committees maintain that nobody must die needlessly during the essays, many patients will die anyway, unless we do something radical. We would advance 5 times more rapid if many ethic’s committees be more flexible in their regulations. IV) Some anti-cancer medicines are right now in use. What happens is that their properties are not yet recognized V) Watson is in favor of establishing minus regulations in cancer clinical essays in order to speed up the process to find a cure for cancer.
