FUTURE CHANGES IN THE COI

The birth disabled South African Oscar Pistorius, was early conditioned with two artificial legs carbon fiber. The implants were so succesful (Pistorius could walk upright), that he decided to give them an added value: running in the Olympic Games in London, 2012. Despite not qualifying for the final 400 m, Pistorius qualified for semifinals. When you look the artificial legs of Pistorius (watch picture), you will note that the design of these, is more for support than to win an Olympic final. Now than as a cyborg, Pistorius can run alongside ranked, able-bodied athletes (normal), some normal athletes, would be thinking of replacing her legs by artificial prostheses, customized, more physiological, more sophisticated than those of Sartorius. It is the natural tendency of some humans to make history. While race times for the 100 m appear to have reached the permissible limit (9 seconds) for able-bodied athletes (normal), cyborgs will do it in 6 or 7 seconds. After that, a soldier of any country, will replace part of her legs by ultraresistant materials (to protect them against explosive land mines), normal arms by metal cuffs, etc. Then the concept of able and disabled people will change.
